Riveras del Bravo

God Bless you. This is the congregation at Riveras del Bravo. We took this picture just this month. Here, God has put Lucio and myself (Rosa) as leaders. We can not do this without our Lord but also without your prayers. We thank God that we were put in a place such as Riveras and we thank you for praying for us during 2011. We ask you that you choose a day out of the week to pray for Riveras. Pray for the members, the visitors and us the leaders. That God give us strength, wisdom and love.

El Porvenir

Better Late then never. Sorry this took so long. These are some pictures of when the food bags where given out in El Porvenir. The church services are done are the leaders house, Wednesday's and Sunday's. The leaders here are Victor and Jobita Gomez. Continue to pray for them and there kids. El Porvenir has been one of the towns that has still been hit hard from all the violence. The services attendance in El Porvenir is up and down since people are afraid to walk the street. Even though this is happening in El Porvenir, Sister Jobita and Brother Victor are going strong but need your help with prayer.

Outside Service in Riveras!

Saturday January 28 we had our first outside evangelistic services. It was held in Riveras del Bravo and man was it cold! Every month we will be going outside the church and having theses services in the street of Ciudad Juarez. Pray for this ministry in Riveras. Next month we will be showing a skit and preaching the word of God in another place. This day was of great because God spoke to people. The next day at Church 3 of the listeners went to church.

We had such a great team this Christmas. A total of 11 came, 7 we already knew and where happy to see them again. 4 came for the first time but quickly became part of the "Agua Viva" family. David and Doris where in charge of this team and they did a great job, it also helped that they spoke spanish and where able to understand my dad. Just the fact that these 11 came down to Ciudad Juarez meant a lot. They didn't have to even do anything because just seeing them lifted our spirits. But they did work. they handed out food bags and gifts. They also visited some homes and pray and sang christmas songs. They also and most importantly for Pastor Francisco is that they played mexican uno, so you could imagine how loud that dorms were.

Here are a few pictures of Thanksgiving in El Millon. We celebrated thanksgiving a saturday before thanksgiving. In Mexico people don't celebrate Thanksgiving but when they heard that we where having turkey everyone said "THANK YOU!" We had a good saturday enjoying great american food and mexican rice! Enjoy the pictures while we enjoyed the food. YUMM!

This young girl is Karla and she is 12 years old. This is her story:

About two months ago she started to have seizures. Her family took her to the hospital and the doctors told her that she had a heart problem and started her on meds for her heart. Her family notice that the meds where not doing anything and only made her have more seizures. After a few days of taking the meds they went to the hospital during a seizure. She was admitted to the hospital and was continue on the meds. After a few days the doctors couldn't figure out what was going on and was transported to Durango(12hours from Juarez) to another hospital. At this hospital they found out what happen. Karla never had heart problems and the meds that were given to her only made her worst. She has something wrong with a part of her brain. But here is the interesting part. She tells us that on her way back home from Durango on the bus she had another seizure. during her seizure she remembers saying "God, if you are real, let me see you". She saids that at that time she feels a soft hand on her cheek and then sees and bright white light. She said it was so bright she couldn't see his face only his gold sandals. Last week she was admitted in the hospital again and was on life support. She saids that when she was in bed she saw again a bright white light and a voice saying "I don't want you here yet, I will pick you up from the bed and you will be ok". It has been a week and she hasn't had any seizures, when before she would have them daily. We praise God for what she is doing in Karla's life but also pray for her. Will you help us pray for her?

The church in El Millon has a baseball team, thanks to a blessing of lots of bats, gloves, balls and helmets. The team is being lead by Xavier Ramirez. There first game was at the anniversary of El Millon and they played against "los texanos" a great team. The team in El Millon had only practice twice and they won!!! 12- 2 all the kids where so happy and not to mention Xavier. They really didn't a great job and was super fun to watch. On a funny note: a lady on the other team was saying nasty things about our kids when another lady told her to "shut up because they are the brothers and they are going to give us a food bag this year"! love it!

Our question for you is: what should their name be? what cha think?

El Porvenir

As many of you know Juarez has been going through a lot of things. El Porvenir has been one of the places that has been affected the most. El Porvenir has always had a small group of people there but now people are no longer going to church because of fear. You go to El Porvenir & it is literally a ghost town. We ask that you continue to pray for El Porvenir and its leaders, Victor and Jobita. At times Victor and Jobita get discourage but they know that God will strength them. They believe and know that God has a purpose for El Porvenir. While lots of people left El Porvenir, Victor & Jobita return and tell people that our Lord Reigns!

Well another month is almost over. Can't believe in a little over 3 months 2011 will be over and here comes 2012!
This month started in victory! A group of 10 and 2 children travel to Durango (12 hours south) in the churches van. Our mission was to give children that went to school backpacks and a little sugar too(candy bags). We went to a total of 3 different churches and 5 different church service in 3 days. Everyone that went on the trip was totally blessed to be able to go on this trip. We also were able to stop at two random places. First was a plaza(park) and gave over 60 backpacks and over 80 candy bags(didn't have enough backpacks to give out). We also stop at a basudero(a place were everyone throw their trash), their 5 backpacks were given out to this children that were cleaning an area because they said that was were they were going to live with their parents. I thank God that I and my family were able to go, everyone on the trip learn something and that included myself. I learned that I might not be able to provide for my daugthers as much as I would love to but at least I am present. This is why I say this. At one of the churches that we went to there was 2 boys around 8 or 9 years old. We were talking and all of the sudden one of them saids "I can't play with him(the other boy), because last time he told me he wanted to play boyfriends and my parents hit me". After this boy left we talked to the other one and he said that his mom and dad work all the time and that he is always left alone with his older brother. My mom and I were in awe of what we had just heard, and at that point I thank God that even thought I might not be able to provide money wise to my daughters but I was present in their lives and believe me, will always be too. In a few days I will post some pictures of the trip.
Also would like to add that on September 26 my parents celebrated their 29th anniversary. Continue to pray for them. That even thought there are many things to do, that they don't forget about each other. Happy Anniversary Ma y Daddy!!! 29 is not so much...its still young... I mean.... you know what I mean. I love you both!

We are off to Gomez Palacio, Durango Mx!

On thursday in the early early morning (4am) 11 of us from Missionary Church in El Millon and Riveras will be heading to Gomez Palacio Mx. 12 hours south of Juarez. We will have services Friday, saturday and sunday were we will be giving out 400 backpacks, Rice and Beans, candy and sharing the word of God. Please pray that we arrive safe. That no one including our little girls get sick. That we be able to transport all these items without no hassel. So exicted to see what the Lord has plan for us.

I think this year was very calm beside the fact that in one service we gave over 400 backpacks!! God is good and we praise him because so many children got their backpacks with school supplies. 7 wonderful and missed people(friends) from Indiana (New Life and NMC) came down during B2S 2011. It was such a great blessing and surprise to see them all. We have prayed that God be able to seen teams down and what a great team to send down after a year and so. Spiritually it was so refeshing to see them, to be able to talk to them and have them pray over us. They were of great help. Helping give out more then 700 backpacks in the Juarez Area.

How many of us need things? things that we want? Ipad, Car, Home, money. How many times do we ask God that he provide them to us? God, I need a this! God, I need that! God, I want that! I... I... I...

Our hearts has been heavy lately because of so many things that are helping in Ciudad Juarez. Happening to people we love, we care. People we see daily.

Sometimes we could be so selfish wanting things for ourselves when there are people out there that need things.

We have seen first hand how many women are having problems with there husband. Husbands that will abuse their wife, physically, mentally and sexually.

We have seen how a mother is pleading for life for her child because he/she is ill. We went to visit a women who 2 year old was dieing. TWO YEAR OLD! that's Ruby's age. I cried as I heard her story. How all she would ask God "WHY!! Please heal her!!"

We have seen men that are in need of a job. That you see him and doesn't look like that man you knew before.

We have seen women are needing to get a job because there husband has left them.

We have seen families that don't have anything in their refrigerator, only a gallon of water and beans.

We have seen families sleep on the floor because they don't have a bed.

And then I think to myself..."here I am asking God for things I want when their are people that need things"

Why are we so selfish sometimes?

It hurts to see people in the condition that they are, and we tell them "If we could fix your problems we would". All we could do is pray for them and not be selfish and just pray for myself.

The pass 2 weeks

As I sit here importing over 800 pictures that were taken of the two weeks of VBS, I have time to think. First was El Millon and then Riveras Del Bravo. By the time we were done with El Millon we were tired and when we started Riveras we were on Automated. We stayed at the house that someone has let us borrowed in Riveras the whole week, an extra hour of sleep was needed :) On the last day in Riveras all the kids had left and only Myself, lucio, our girls and two youth members were are church. Lucio put on the ipod and put worship music. We were feeling the music and God's presence, we began to get so much energy and refresh. Everything was worth it. The acking feet, the kid that didn't pay attention, having to go from store to store to buy food for the kids, seeing if we were going to have enough money for the food....EVERYTHING WAS WORTH IT!

This was the first year VBS was held at the church in Riveras. We didn't provide transportation to outside kids only to church members and their friends. First day we had 51 kids, after that day we didn't have less then 100! We had so much help from church members. We had youth, single moms, men and even the elderly was there(poor sisters, they said there whole body hurt). For lots of the teachers and helpers it was the first time at a VBS and as teachers and helpers. The church in Riveras raised money to help feed the children everyday. We gave: burritos, sandwiches, fruit cocktails, nachos and on Friday we went out with a bang. On Friday we bought. 3 cakes, 187 ice creams, chips and lots and lots of cold punch and lemonade.

Going back to VBS in El Millon. On the last day it was my turn to give The Word. All week we talked about 5 heroes. David, Moses, Jonah, Joseph and of course Jesus. When i was talking with them. I told them"don't raise your hand please but how many of you have ever been hurt? have been hit?" lots of kids raise there hands. while I was talking tears stared coming. This is why we do VBS! We don't know how many kids during the day are being physically abuse, mentally abuse, or even sexually abuse. At least for a week these kids are able to be kids. For a week these kids are being treated like they should be. Who cares if am tired, hurting, hungry! these kids have been treated and felt worst. At least for one week these kids were not abuse in anyway.

How cool will it be that when we get to heaven, someone could come up to me and say "thanks, being you were the reason why I came to Christ. Because of VBS 2011" ALL WORTH IT!

New Leaders

God is building up new leaders in the church here in Ciudad Juarez. As many of you know we had been very short on leaders for some time now. There was only My parents in El Millon, Jobita and Victor in El Porvenir and My husband and myself in Riveras Del Bravo. This pass month two new couples where added. We ask you keep them in your prayers as well as us others.

First here is Rodriguez Family.
Jesus and Claudia Rodriguez will be staying in El Millon as potential leaders/pastors. Both are from Coahuila Mexico(12 hours south) and have 3 girls and 3 granddaughters. Both older girls are married and are very much active in different churches. One of them is a pastor and the other is married to an evangelist. Both Jesus and Claudia accepted Christ in their heart 8 years old and have been active in church. Jesus studied at a Bible College for 3 years and have worked with men at church. Neither of them work outside from church. They currently live in Anapra(2 hrs. by bus) but will be moving to a home they own in Riveras(30mins by bus). There youngest daughter is name Brisa and is 3 years old. They have been legally married for 27 years. Jesus is 40 years old and well we don't say a women age.

Here is Raduel and Laura Torres. In this case Laura is the new leader. She will be working in Jesus Carranza and of course her husband Raudel will be helping her out anyway he can. Maybe you reconize Raudel's face. Raudel was a member at the Riveras Church. A year ago in July they got legally married and moved to Oaxaca Mx(2 day drive south) where they helped Laura's pastor open a mission. They began to feel the calling to return to Juarez. God showed them that they needed to return. Now they are back and started full force. Laura graduated from the seminary here in Ciudad Juarez. Raduel accept Christ in his heart 3 years ago at the church in El Millon. Laura accepted Christ in her heart around 20 years ago. They both have been very active at church, from the music, working with kids, going on mission trip and bible study. They have no children yet.

VBS is on its way

This pass Monday we started the first day of two weeks of VBS. This week we started in El Millon and so far so good. The first day we had 77 kids. Day two 103 and today 90 kids. We are starting at 9am and finish around noon. We start VBS with a short service and then go to our different stations. There are 4 station in total. Story telling, songs, crafts and the kids favorite...FOOD!!
We will finish friday with awards, presentation of the songs and crafts. We are having a great time. My parents are not as young as the think they are but are going strong. We ask that you continue to pray for us. Next week is Riveras and we have no clue how many kids to expect.

OVERTIME IS ON ITS WAY!

Hello again everyone. Well for lots of kids summer vacation is on its way, where you do a whole lot of nothing. Summer for us means more work, overtime!!!

We start this Saturday. El Millon and Riveras will have registration for Back to School(handing out of backpacks with school supplies) El Millon will have its registration from 8:30am till noon, where as Riveras will have it from 8:30am till 10:30am. We will be doing registration till the end of June at all churches.

In July we have VBS for all churches. Our big VBS will be in El Millon and Riveras. We are expecting 200-250 kids!!! El Millon and Jesus Carranza will have it together on July 11- July 15 from 9am till noon. Riveras will be having it from July 17- July 22 from 9am till noon. The theme this year is Bible Heroes.

In August we will be handing out all the backpacks from the registration. Lets see how many will be in total?? wanna guess?

We also have lots of activities that will be going on at the churches. We have 3 days of services (Thursday- Jesus Carranza, Friday-El Millon, Saturday- Riveras) where we will be celebrating "DIA DE PENTECOSTES"(could you guess what I wrote?). Also in July- August we want to do a Slumber Parties with the young ladies from the different church where we want to talk to them about waiting till you are marriage for sex and sexual abuse. We are hoping and praying for help this weekend(hint-hint, wink- wink). We are also having "Servicio de barrios" in the different churches. Services outside of church. And of course lots of other plans we have but all we need is time!

And to top the summer my baby brother(he's 24) will be getting married on August 13!!! We are so happy and proud of him. We couldn't love Olga more. She is a great women and a great addition to the family. (YES!!! more help for the ministry!)

We ask that you pray for us. Our entire family. None of what we do is done without your prayers and our family help. We ask that you pray for our health especially the little ones(Daniel- 12, Adrian- 3, Ruby- almost 2, and Karina- 3 months).

LET THE SUMMER BEGAN!!!!

Prayer Request in El Millon

This time its Norma Ramirez that needs your prayer. Norma Ramirez is a sister that has been attending the church in El Millon since 2008. About three weeks ago she gave thanks because she had three goals for 2011 and two of them where already done. The first one was to married to the father of her kids and the second was to get baptized. The third goal is to be able to walk again.
In August 2009 at Norma's home there was a dispute with her husband and some family members. 4 people including Norma jumped into a car that was going to the hospital because one of the men was injured in the dispute, but the man that was driving was drunk. Not even 10 minutes away they turn over in a curb. Norma at the time was 8 months pregnant. Thank God no one in the car was injury badly only Norma. She was told the baby was no in harm at all but she was on the verge of having her leg amputated. God worked his magic and her legged was saved. In September 2009 her daughter was born and she name her Victoria.
Since 2009 they have told her that she needs an operation on her leg because her knee tendons are torn. The operation is costly and untill she comes up with the money she is able to have the operation. Norma sells food at her home during the weekend to come up with the money and also sells candy from time to time at church. Please join us in praying for her so she could come up with the money she needs for the operation.

As I am sitting here writing this blog I have a fever and have been sick since yesterday. When I started yesterday, Lucio gave me some medicine. Darn medicine worked and to my surprise it was the medicine that New Life had send over. New life must of prayer over it because it worked and not just myself but also lots of families in Juarez. We were blessed with a shipment of medicine from New Life Church in Indiana.

Two weeks ago in El Millon, women from El Millon, Jesus Carranza and Riveras gather to celebrate mothers day. There were around 50-60 women there. After the gathering my mom told the ladies, get medicine that you need. I would look at my mom and tell her "I hope its enough"(we had already been giving out before this). Every single women in there got the medicine that they need. It multiply and even had some left. Prior to this we have been giving out medicine to people that were sick, Kids with the cold, Adults with the........runs!

New life, God Bless you! Thanks to you we have been able to give lots of medicine to people that other wise wouldn't have been able to buy on their own. We have given allot and still have some more to give away. GOD BLESS YOU!!

Today Sunday we had a great day. We started the morning with a 6am sunrise service in Riveras where Lucio preached. To our surprise 120 people attended this service. After the service we all stayed and shared some menudo, everyone was able to eat well. Thank God! After this service we all went to El Millon where we had another service at 10:30am. At this service we had 9 people that were baptize. 1 from El Millon, 2 from Jesus Carranza(father and daughter) and 6 from Riveras. We had a special moment where Anita was baptize. She is our little girl(she is 26) with special needs. Her parents would tell us that she would tell them daily that she wanted to get baptize. Her mom told us that today Anita woke up in a great mood and saying that she was going to go into the water. God is awesome!!Every baptism was special in its own way but Anita touch close to home.

Beside having 9 baptisms, there were also 12 children that we presented to God including my very own baby, Karina. We had a great service an afterward we all ate hamburgers, more then 200 burgers were made. WOW!
All in All we had a great day, a long day but a great day.

No bus transportation

For about 2 weeks now there has been no public transportation in the valley of Juarez. The bus route end in Riveras del Bravo, meaning that El Porvenir, El Millon and Jesus Carranza have no way of traveling outside the towns, unless they have a car and many dont. There has been lots of attacks to the public transportation especially to the one going to the valley, and for that reason the owners decided to end it all together. In the pass they had done this but only a couple of days. Now because of this people in the valley have not been able to go to Juarez for the food, doctors visit or school. This pass friday the church in El Millon provided the churches van to people that needed to go grocery shopping. For those that have a car is not that hard, just have to find gas money but for those without a car is hard. We hope this doesn't last long.

No need to tell everyone about what is going on in Ciudad Juarez, I think you know by now.
This pass wednesday while in school a young boy of 6 years old was killed when a car crashed inside the school. The driver said he was being chased, he is 16 years old.
On thursdays service in Riveras, Juanita ( she was a church member in El Millon but moved to Riveras. She is married to Carlos and has three kids and has her sister kids too) stood up and gave thanks. On the day the car crashed into the school, Rosita(her youngest) was drinking from the water fountain. When the car crash it was going directly to Rosita. Rosita saw the car and ran but the little boy next to her didn't run. Rosita saw when this little helpless boy was ran over by the car. Juanita and us we give thanks to our Protector, God!! He saved Rosita from also being killed that day. If she would of not ran off she would of been killed too. The only thing is that Rosita has not been able to sleep since wednesday night. She starts shaking and crying when she closes her eyes. We praise God because He protected her but we also ask Him to help her forget what happen that day. That she be able to sleep at night. No child deserves to have this happen to her. Keep her in your prayers!

Riveras Del Bravo

Riveras Del Bravo also known as "The Pigeon Coop". The Church in Riveras is a church that is growing fast, it is located right in the middle of where the factory plants build homes for the workers. There are over 10 sections of houses with more then 8000 houses in each sections. Why "Pigeon Coop"? because the house are very very VERY small. God has blessed us(Lucio and myself) with being the leaders at this church and wow has he blessed us. We are learning a lot and quick. The people in Riveras is a church that is learning new things and not only learning but also putting it in practice. We love to worship Christ and love to spend time with one other. Riveras even thought the church is done with construction there are many things that still need to be done. Riveras has been robbed 3 times, where they have taken everything they can including toilet paper! Thank God we have an alarm system and were not able to take it all. Continue to pray for the church members in Riveras and for Lucio and Myself(Rosa) including our daughters Olivia Ruby and Karina.

El Millon

El Millon, the heart if the missionary churches in Ciudad Juarez. El Millon is where all the churches starteds, where the leaders began and then branch out to the other missionary churches. The Pastor here as you know are Francisco and Rosa Ramirez. As you see in the pictures(for those that have came down) there are many new faces at churches. This picture was taken on a sunday and many people did not attend since they come by themselves to church and their husband or wife doesn't let them come on a sunday or they spend it with there family. The people here in El Millon are the nicest people you WILL ever meet. Even though they don't have much they WILL give you the shirt of there back if you are in need. Jesus Carranza And El Porvenir

El Porvenir:

El Porvenir is the last town that is located in the valley of Juarez. El Porvenir has had a hard year. Last year in April, El Porvenir was one of two towns that were told that everyone that lived there must leave. The members at El Porvenir as well as the leaders here had a hard time understanding what was going on. The Gomez Family(Leaders at El Porvenir) left there home and everything that they had behind and left to the dorms in El Millon. After many weeks living at the dorms, they return to El Porvenir after knowing it was safe. Because of what happen and is happening in Juarez, Sister Jobita has had lots of health complications, but they have not given up. Lots of church members left El Porvenir and didn't return but the ones that did return continue to worship God at the Gomez's home every Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Jesus Carranza:
Jesus Carranza has church services Thursdays and Sundays. Jesus Carranza is small church but with members with big hearts. It is one of the churches that when we need help in anything, they are always willing to help. As many of you remenber, Jesus Carranza is located where witch craft is all around but WE have made our way!! GOD HAS MADE ITS WAY! Jesus Carranza was the first building that was build (I believe in 2005?) The leaders at this church is Ezequiel and Maria Zuniga. They have three sons, Ezequiel, Missael and Ismael. Members from the churches in El Millon and Riveras attend services thursda ys and sundays to encourage the church members here.

US missionary killed in Mexico drug no-man's land

(AP) – Jan 27, 2011

MEXICO CITY (AP) — American missionaries Sam and Nancy Davis were crossing a drug-cartel battleground in northern Mexico when gunmen opened fire on their truck and mortally wounded Nancy.

Now the search for her killers, an investigation led by authorities in Tamaulipas, could be mired by the same violence as investigators in previous high-profile cases have turned up dead in this state bordering Texas, where two powerful cartels are warring for drug routes.

No law enforcement officials on either side of the border would speak publicly Friday about the security issue, or the fact that few crimes in Mexico ever get prosecuted.

"We expect the Mexican authorities to investigate this case," said U.S. Embassy spokesman Alex Featherstone. "We can't speculate on what might happen to the investigators."

The couple drove up to an illegal roadblock on a stretch of highway just south of the border city of Reynosa. When Sam Davis decided not to stop, gunmen opened fire and hit Nancy Davis, 59, in the head. Sam frantically drove his bleeding wife for help, crossing the wrong way on an international bridge into Texas, where she later died.

Tamaulipas will investigate the assault on the couple and the discharging of the firearm, said state Attorney General spokesman Ruben Dario Rios Lopez. But he said the state is not investigating a murder because Davis died in the U.S.

Her death Wednesday came four months after American David Hartley was gunned down on Falcon Reservoir bordering Texas and Tamaulipas as he and his wife tried fleeing on Jet Skis. Last summer's massacre of 72 migrants also took place in Tamaulipas.

A prosecutor and transit police officer investigating the migrant case both turned up dead. A state police commander looking into Hartley's disappearance was decapitated, his head delivered to a Mexican army post in a suitcase.

Hartley's body was never found and no one has been arrested.

"Falcon Reservoir was a different issue," Rios said. "Assistant Attorney General Hernan de la Garza is in charge of this investigation, and he's known as a very capable investigator."

State and local law enforcement in Texas, as well as the FBI, all pledged to do what they could to help the Mexican investigation.

The couple, who had been doing missionary work in Mexico for 30 years, was well aware of the dangers they faced and had cut back their trips recently as a result.

Intense violence has plagued all of northeastern Tamaulipas state, where the Gulf cartel and the Zetas have been battling for lucrative drug routes in the United States for more than a year.

The Mexican government in November sent more troops and federal police there in what it called a major operative to try to control drug violence.

Francille Davis said her son and daughter-in-law were in Mexico Wednesday to pay pastors in some of the village churches the family had established. She said the drug war had prevented Sam from reaching the churches earlier in the month.

Among their stops was the tiny hamlet of Villa Mainero, where the Davises had a church. Residents said the couple was well-known and well-loved for work they had done over decades.

They ran a children's shelter for some time and founded several churches in other small settlements. Nancy worked as a nurse and midwife, gave Bible classes and was known as a deeply religious person who used music to express her faith.

Adelaeda Martinez, now 42, grew up in the children's shelter, where her mother sent her so she could go to school. She said considered Nancy her spiritual mother.

"My mother died a month ago and they came from the U.S. to be with us in a difficult time," Martinez said. "They gave everything in their lives to be here with us. Not everyone wants to come here because we're in the mountains, the road is difficult and it's not safe."

Like most small towns in Mexico, the pueblo has a central plaza and town hall with a few simple convenience stores and stalls that sell tacos and ice cream. Few residents have telephones in their homes, said housewife Olga Cepeda, and many leave in search of work, often finding their way to cities like Monterrey or across the U.S. border.

In a sign of the effects of Mexico's drug war, Cepeda said gunmen in flashy SUVs are now a common sight on the roads around the once-peaceful town. The highway that runs past Villa Mainero to Monterrey and north to the border with Texas is a notorious drug-smuggling route.

"They loved Mexico," Cepeda said of the missionary couple. "I think, sadly, that caused her death."

This pass weekend starting on Thursday we had services at different churches. We started Thursday in Jesus Carranza, Friday in El Millon and Saturday in Riveras. Friday night in El Millon a total of 4 people were baptized, two of El Millon and two of Riveras. Here are a few photos of the services.

Over 350 food bags where given out this pass week. Everything started Tuesday in Riveras and ended friday in El Porvenir. Every church had a special service to give that bags out, people hear the word of God and there was also a time to worship God. Even thought this year we did not have a group to pass out the food bag, everyone in the different churches helped out. We had a very smooth time, to God be the glory. Riveras X-Mas Dinner

On Sunday the 19 Riveras had there X-Mas Dinner. There were over 100 people there (only members). Everything started at 3:30pm where kids from the church were able to break a pinata. We had a music group(members from the church) play during the afternoon. God was so good because we were short on food but everyone(except myself :( were able to eat. But you know the coke could not be left out, there was even bottle left over. At this time we gave out 48 food bags to only the members of the church as well as every child there received there x-mas gift. We had a few games and most of all we had a great time. Christmas was in the air. Grecia (baby girl in hat) is a miracle baby, God has healed her. Her parents were told she had a skin condition and was told that she would not grow. God proved them wrong. She had NO skin condition and is growing! She is a year and a half.

These people where each given 100 pesos (15 dlls) gift certficate so they could by extra food at the local store. They are people that have helped out all year long at church and it was time that the help went to them. A total of 25 people received them.

These are the two families in The Valley of Juarez that thanks to the Acorn Club in NMC they will for sure have a great Christmas season. These two families are:

The Ruiz Family, members of the church in Riveras. Each member of the Ruiz Family except for youth girl is in the worship team at the church. Brother Rodolfo(dad) is the one that works. He works as the person that goes to your house and charges you if you owe money at a store.

The next family is The Family of our Sister Maria. Maria and her family go to church in El Millon. As many of you will see in the picture, Maria is Estella's mom. Maria with her children do not miss a single service of church, and thank God her husband allows her to go. Leon(dad) is the only one in the family that works and Maria has been recently dismissed from her job at the factory plant. This family is The Reyes Martinez Family.

Again we want to say a big big thank you to everyone of the kids in the Acorn Club that allow these two families to have a great Christmas season. The Reyes-Martinez and Ruiz are praying for each one of you, so that you too could have a merry christmas! You guys are great,way to go!

El Millon X-Mas Dinner

This pass Saturday the church in El Millon had there Christmas dinner. Everything started at 4am when Sister Juanita and her husband Carlos join my mom at the dorms to start making the tamales. By 6 am sisters started rolling in to start the wrapping of the tamales. OMG they were delicious! The dinner started at 4pm and every church member was there and also brought there families. 32 food bags where given out to only the church members at this time and also every child got there Christmas present. We had a great time enjoying each other, talking, talking and talking. And you know we could talk. Also on Saturday 12 people received a gift certificate of 100 pesos (15 dlls) that they could use at the local food store to buy additional food. These 12 people were chosen because they are people that are in need, and even thought we know most of the people at church at in need but these need it a bit more. Christmas season has started in the Iglesias Misioneras in Ciudad Juarez. This pass Tuesday we had a great group come out to help out pack the food bags. Starting this Saturday we start giving out the food bags, over 360! We could do it! We give thanks because this year we are able to put the bags in a Eco friendly bag(GO GREEN!) Thanks Annette! The food bags has about 200 pesos( $25dlls) of food, including 2 toilet papers, oil, 3 boxes of tomato sauce, Sugar, beans and rice, coffee, milk, a bar of soap and also pictures of kids group in Indiana. Feed The Children

As you know we Feed the Children every Saturday mornings. When the cold weather came this year lots of kids did not show in the mornings, except for 3 or 4 children. For those that have stayed at the dorms know that it is cold in the morning at the dorms. Starting December the Feed the Children moved for Saturday mornings to Saturday afternoon, and since the change we have seen the increase in the children again. Every Saturdays for the rest of the season we will be Feeding the Children at noon. These pass two Saturdays we gave, Hamburgers with potatoes chips and popcorn and Turkey with Potatoes salad with popcorn. Keep the Feed The children program in your prayers as well as every child that comes in those doors on Saturdays. Here are a few pictures of these pass two saturdays....enjoy!

Here are a few picture taken in September where 6 people were welcome into the family in Christ. There were also 2 children dedication. We had a great afternoon where everyone brought food from there home state and shared with other people. Over 150 people attended. God has been doing great things at the missionary church in Riveras where at every service there is more then 8o adults in attendance and that is not counting the children. Alondra's Accident

A week and a half ago Alondra was in a accident. When Alondra was coming off the school bus and a bus from the factory ran her over. Thank God the bus was driving slow but it still was not enough. The front end of the bus push her; and as you can tell and for those of you that know her, Alondra is very very skinny. Right away she was taken to a near by clinic where her older brother that was also walking home went with her. Kids went to tell Sister Teresa(terry) that she was in an accident. Terry tells us that when she arrived that had the bus driver handcuff and ready to go to jail. Everything happen on friday afternoon and she was release from the hospital on Sunday afternoon. She broken both shoulders and hit her head very badly. This wednesday she will be getting results from the Cat-Scan since she still has headaches and blood keeps on coming out of her right ear. God is wonderful because this couldn of been worst but God is great. keep her in your prayers as well as the case. The man that ran Alondra over is no longer wanting to help pay for treatment. Alondra is in need of medication and Sister Terry tells us its either the medication or food for the week. Alondra feels responsible for what happen but we thank God that she is okay and with life. Please keep Alondra and her family in your prayers. Alondra is ok!

Back To School(Jesus Carranza)

Saturday the 21 was Jesus Carranzas back to school event at 6pm. All day we had great weather but as soon as the kids were dismiss from their service to enjoy the food it started to rain, but that didn't stop anyone of us from enjoying the time and of course food. At Jesus Carranza 200 hotdogs were given, a little more then 100 nachos and many bags of popcorn. There were 72 kids that recieved backpacks and just like Riveras and El Millon every child had a bag of chips in their bags. It was 8:30 and kids were still on the jumping baloons having fun. It was a long long day but it was worth the waking up at 6am. It was worth going to walmart various times to get notebooks(I think we would be customers of the month). It was worth passing over to Juarez 2 even 3 times a day to leave stuff. Everything was worth it. Thank You God for another great back to school event....READY FOR NEXT YEAR???

Saturday the 21st was our back to school event in El Millon from 9am to noon( We had GREAT weather). compare to other years we have done this, this year was the least in attendance but it was sooo much fun and easy going. Everyone was working very well and things went great. Over 100 backpacks were given out in El Millon, the handing out was very smoothly. Just wanted to write a congrats note to Jack. This has been a great year for him and shelly (yes Jack, having your daughter get married is good). Today is a special day for the Lengacher's, hope the day and the wedding is going great. Jack you are very special to our family and to El Millon, and when you have joy we have joy with you. We love you Jack(or should I say grandpa Jack) Please take care of yourself, your grandson will need you for lots and lots of years and Olivia will too!! Congrats again to the Lengachers... We are so use to waking up every morning

Yesterday at 9am, 4 bodies were put to rest. We had a beautiful service with more then 80 adults attended, many children and students of the middle school standing by there friend that had just lost his grandma, mother and younger siblings. We had all 4 bodies at the church and there wasn't a dry eye. These death really was an eye opening for everyone, no one knows when it could be your last day. This family thought that they would be back from the store on friday but they never made it. We always think, tomorrow but what if there is no tomorrow. We think, Ill tell my love ones I love them later, but what if there is no later. Since friday when we found out about the deaths, I am not been able to sleep. Now if am not able to sleep without thinking about them, thinking if they suffer, thinking about how Gaby maybe was crying needing help...I could just image the survivors. Olga a survivor for the crash has not been able to sleep since friday, because she saids that every time she closes her eyes she goes back to the crash and sees how her mom and sister and nephews were died at the site. Martin, who was driving hasn't shed a tear. He is in shock of what happen and to make matters worse, some family members are putting the blame on him since he was driving. Then there is Guicho...a young boy of 15, who lost his family and is now left alone. Why did God do this? He has a plan for them, He knows why this happen. Martha Alicia( the mom and daughter) will no longer have to worry about what to cook, wont have to worry about how they are going to pay for food... And these two kids, they are now having the time of there live. I bet my brother is showing them around and making sure they are OK. Iam sure that they are in heaven and are playing around, maybe the little boy has fallen asleep in our heavenly father arms. God has a plan for everything!! I give thanks that I, my family, the church, and the there family where able to have known them...and I pray that I never forget the lesson I learned this weekend. The older lady sitting down( Victors grandma) with her children that are still alive, she had a total of 12 kids. Benjamin(in red) terry's husband. Maria(older woman) lost her daughter, granddaughter, and great grandchildren.

There are only there boxes because Martha Alicia(the younger one) is in the box with her one year old. They said that she never let go of him...not ever after the crash.

Sad News at Missionary Church in El Millon

The dad was driving and fell asleep on the wheel , he survive but is having a very hard time dealing with everything. Martha Alica, Gaby and the youngest boy all died in the car accident. The 3 year old is in the hospital.
Martha Alicia(Right) was Sister Terry and Benjamin aunt. Martha Alicia also died on friday!

On friday we receive news that 9 people traveling from the store had gotten in a car accident, only 10 mins away from home. In the beginning news was that 5 people had died and it

turn out only 4 dead in the car accident. What really hurt our hearts is to know that 7 year old Gaby also pass away in the car accident. All the deaths hurt really bad since they all attended church but we knew Gaby since she was born. She was a very very sweet little girl, we never had to tell her to behave. She was beautiful inside and out. Only God Knows why this happen, We just ask God to help us to give word to the family that is suffering. In total 5 people died. Martha Alicia of 50 years old, Martha Alicia of 33 years old, Gaby of 7 years old and Martin of only a year old.All were family members, Grandma, Daughter and grand kids. Tomorrow Monday we will be having a service at the church at 9am follow by immediate burial. Please pray for the family, The husband of both Martha as well as other kids that were left without a mom. Martha Alicia had 4 children, two died in the car accident. a 3 year old that was in the car also is in critical conditional at the hospital and the oldest of 15 was not harm since he was not in the car. Please have this family in your prayers...All this happen in El Millon.

Just wanted to give you a little update about what is going on in the Juarez area specially with the Missionary churches in Juarez. To start everything off, PLEASE PRAY FOR US! we are in need of prayer! El Porvenir (EP) and San Ignacio(SI) have been two of the towns that are being hit hard. The people living in El Porvenir and San Ignacio had till Abril 4 to leave the towns. We don't have any clue(which we kind of do) but notes has been put up in both towns that they must leave OR ELSE. Or else meaning, Housing being burn down and killing of Innocent people. As I write this I have tears in my eyes but WE do not deserve this. Lucio and I were not able to go to San Ignacio today and it seems that all this week we wont be going because of what is going on. To make matter worst the leaders in El Porvenir have had to leave there home en El Porvenir, and now are at the dorms in El Millon since they have no other place to go. People are being told to leave their homes, but where do they go, If they don't know of anything else. A sister in San Ignacio has said to us that she is not going anywhere. That she will stay put because she has no where to go, she has put blood and sweat into making her house and home. Please please, when ever you think of us, Pray for the members and people here. Thank God everything is staying in that area of Juarez and that El Millon, Jesus Carranza and Riveras del Bravo nothing has happen. Of course, there are much more soldiers and police area town, but the sad part is that they are only in Juarez and forget about the valley of Juarez. Please pray and for those that are praying continue to pray!
We were talking to a young man in El Millon and were talking about this situation, and he said something to Lucio and I, that is true. "Things are bad in the area but at least you have a place to go, you just stay in El Paso and nothing could happen to you, but what about us"....

We had a great weekend! After a year of construction and many years of dreaming, the Riveras church is done!! This Saturday we had the dedication services. There was many emotions going on, but mainly very happy and thankful that the church is finish! We had few people from NMC including Pastor Dave and his wife with us this weekend. Here are a few pictures of what went on this weekend, we also had the privilege of hearing Pastor Dave preach Saturday and Sunday. From personal experience I think God made him preach just from Lucio and I, Thank You!

first team in 2010 and it was a great one, lots of work was done! Denny Yoder lead this team, with people from NMC, NLF and even someone from Michigan. The team worked in Riveras and El Millon. First off, Riveras looks beautiful!! It finally looks like a church, everything every team has done came all together with this team. The El Millon house makes El Millon look even better! Here are some pictures of this pass week in action. We were so happy to see many familiar faces and of course many new faces which are now part of our family. Someone that was so so great to see was Tom Richmond. Tom is a great friend and brings back so so many memories. We in El Millon love Tom and his beautiful wife Terry so so much! Crazy duo Verle and Tom we at it again! Can't spend to much time talking about everyone, I would never finish. Just have to say thankyou for everyone of you for coming down. Remenber DO NOT BE AFRAID, GOD IS WITH YOU!!

Happy 2010! can't believe its 2010, didn't notice that it was a new year. Everyone was at Riveras waiting for the new year. we had great time worshiping God and at the end we had a great potluck. here are a few pictures from that night.

olimpia gave thanks because it was her first year that she did not recieve a new year drinking... fernando(the father) also send that it was his first year that was sober new years eve, and said that if he ever goes back to the way he was, he asked us to not let him go back to who he was.

this little boy is a great kid,weeks before he would ask for prayer for his dad that wouln't want to go to church.... his dad is the man in the picture. GOD ANSWER!

Well another team came and went. There were 18 people on this team and we had a blast with each and everyone of them! 300ish food BAGS(not baskets Jack) were made. On Friday bags were given out in El Millon, Sunday to Riveras and Jesus Carranza. Saturday morning the team give breakfast to the kids at the dorms. There favorite, PANCAKES!!! This years team did a great job, even with the power outage every morning. We thank everyone of you, you came took time out of your busy holiday time and came down to Juarez and bless us. Mr. T, Queen J, Queen Elizabeth and Pastor Dave Jr. you guys were amazing, you rocked!! It was great
to see familiar faces in the group as well as new ones. For the new ones... Welcome to our family! Also we wanted to take our hats off(sombreros) to Annette. Beside everything that happen last year you came back. You really are something something, lots of people would of not done what you did, but you did. We love you Annette and we thank you for your hard work with the bibles. Jack and Shelly, as always it was great to see you. We missed you at home. Both of you including "Katia" have a second home here with us. You did a great job leading the team.

Youth X-Mas Dinner!

We had a great x-mas dinner party this pass Saturday with the youth. We had great food that our sister Juanis prepared for us, as while as other food that each youth brought(CAKE!!) We had a blast with the games. One of my favorites was the ballon games. We loved it so much we played twice!!! It was especially funny hearing Othon scream not like a very manly man so to speak. He was a great sport. We had our human x-mas tree game which was so funny to see that guys letting them do anything to them. All in all it was a great night. We had youth from our sister church where brother Cecillo pastors. Everyone had a great night, including us, Ruby was a angel. Well One down a few more x-mas partys to go. Happy Holidays everyone!!!

Pues aunque solo hago esto en ingles pero se que algunos de ustedes jovenes van a ver esta pagina pues porque no. Se que muchos de ustedes entiendieron lo que escribir en ingles pero por aquello que no. Tuvimos una cena/fiesta de navidad divertida. Te gusto??!? Me parte favorita ver y escuchar a othn gritar... ay othon!! nos gusto poderlos tener a todos en el millon, a los de riveras y los del pastor cecillo(Ismael, recuerda estas casado!) Hubo un mal entendido con el pastor omar, se tendra que repedir todo no?!?! que creen. Pues gracias a todos los que pudieron ir. La comida estuvo deliciosa y picosa, todos estuvimos de mocosos, hasta algunos lloraron(verdad miguel). Gracias Hna. Juanis por hacer el guisado y las papas. Pues jovenes preparense para Febrero, que tengan felices fiestas, cuidense mucho. Hasta el proximo!!!

Hello again everyone! its been some time, I know, I know. Forgive me, but here we are again. On Oct. 31 we had all 7 churches united in one place, this month it was Riveras to host. There was a little more then 100 people there under one roof, we one purpose, to praise God!! We had a great time, the sun was out and HOT!!!The day started at 10:30 we a talent show. There were 21 people that participated, from singing, poems, bible versus, dramas etc.. By the time the talent show was over we were all ready to eat,and boy was the food great!! YUMMY!!! We had pot luck and everyone had a full belly. Next was a contest. The youth from all 7 churches were to learn the book of 1st Timonthy(sorry, so use to Spanish that I don't know if its spelled correctly) And it brings great pleasure to let you know that the youth from EL Millon won the contest!!! YESSSS!!! Poor guys, I had them studying till the very last minute, it paid off. At 3:30 we had our united service and it was a great joy to be all together praising God. All in All it was a great day but the end of the day we all just wanted to go to bed and rest. We are so please to be able to get together, we do this every 5th Saturday of the month. Next time in January, El Millon is hosting. Well as you show there are some pictures that were taken from the day. Hope you enjoyed them, and I promise I will come on again very soon. What better time to start blogging then now. We just had a group of 24 from Indiana come for our Back to School event. We had a blast with this team! (as we have with every team that has come down) There were over 300 backbags that were given out this year, from El Porvenir to Riveras. On Friday backpacks were given out in El Porvenir and San Ignacio. Saturday we had two fiestas in El Millon and Jesus Carranza. Sunday we had the fiesta in Riveras where more then 250 people attended.

besides giving the backpacks, we had a great Sunday morning worship! We had children dedicated and had baptisms. It was a great services. It was so good to see everyone together worshiping God. We also had the privilege to had Jeremy from Indiana get baptise, having him do that here was a awesome experience.

Well the battery is running on low now, so that just means one thing. Blogging is over!
